DESCRIPTION
 
The Communications Manager leads, identifies, develops and schedules the distribution of content across all LiNK communication channels (website, print, blog, video scripts, social media etc) with a focus on consumer audiences. This individual will be responsible for moderating communications throughout the organization. They will use various resources, such as social media monitoring and tracking programs for both internal and external communications to follow, analyze and execute communications. The Communications Manager works to ensure messages are consistent with the overall brand and meet company standards to maintain and promote the positive image on behalf of the organization.
 
The Communications Manager will be responsible for the integration of digital and social communication – writer, editor and production supervisor for digital content initiatives across various channels. They will also be responsible for identifying relevant content ideas and opportunities based on analysis of trends and business integration; create outstanding content in cost-effective ways and distribute that content at optimal times to maximize sharability and engagement.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
 
 
Social Media

  • Responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of strategic social media and digital initiatives, including developing and managing viral marketing campaigns, creating and supervising social media accounts, and integrating interactive media into the overall business strategy.
  • Responsible for daily posts/tweets to all applicable social media outlets. Other duties include coordinating the marketing calendar with online activity, tracking social media influence measurements, partnering with other departments to ensure proper online messaging and relevancy, ensuring consistency of messages across multiple networks, preparing reports to update internal staff on usage statistics, and continuous monitoring and coverage of all sites.

Website & Print

  • Responsible for stylish writing and frequently posting new content to the internet (website/blog). Must demonstrate the ability to write professionally for varied audiences and consistently meet tight deadlines.

  • Responsible for analyzing online data and making recommendations using web analytics applications. DESCRIPTION
 
LiNK Protection Officers (PO’s) play an integral and often unseen role in the underground movement. North Korean refugees hiding in China depend on our partners and PO’s to guide them out of “the underground” and assist them as they await resettlement to safer countries. PO’s are challenged and required to undertake several roles concurrently as government officials and their implementing partners work with them to ensure the well-being and efficient processing of these refugees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Advocate for, assist, and protect North Korean refugees
  • Work with LiNK HQ and affiliate satellite offices to better address and respond to the challenges faced by refugees in hiding and in transition
  • Provide valuable input for long-term strategies in the field
  • Coordinate and provide holistic, multi-disciplinary, and culturally-competent resources to ensure successful resettlement experiences
  • Conduct field research and lead fact-finding missions in the region

REQUIREMENTS

A qualified individual will have undertaken activities that readily show his/her commitment to the issue and dedication to LiNK’s mission and principles. An ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of and interest in the North Korea crisis and relevant issues regarding refugees and the resettlement process. Fluency in English is required, as well as a very strong command of the Korean language. Preference will be given to those with an intimate knowledge of and experience with Korean culture and people, as well as extensive experience with international work/travel. This individual should possess proven qualities of leadership and an ability to provide principled, effective, and sustainable responses to complex problems. Other desired qualities include adaptability; a demonstrated ability to maintain focus and vigilance in a complex environment, which could consist of political, emotional, and possible physical dangers; ability to effectively work in a team; strong demonstrated computer literacy skills; a background in social work, case management, refugee issues, mental health, or development; experience in the field of North Korea or human rights issues.

Our ROK Resettlement Assistance Program is designed to provide supplementary assistance to refugees who have resettled in South Korea where more than 24,000 North Korean refugees reside. The ROK Resettlement Coordinator will work closely with the ROK Resettlement Manager to develop and expand programs that will help support and empower them to become self-sufficient, healthy, and contributing members of society and give them the best chance of fulfilling their potential and enjoying success in their new lives.

THE OPPORTUNITY
 
National tours play a major part in spreading awareness about the North Korea crisis. Through organizing film screenings of our documentary at high schools, colleges and religious institutions across the country, we are mobilizing people to take part in seeing an end to the human rights abuses in North Korea. These events can be someone’s only opportunity to learn about this issue, making LiNK’s presence crucial. You will be assisting our Movement Team in booking LiNK events across the country, as well as assisting our contacts to effectively promote LiNK screenings in their community. Your efforts will have a direct impact on the success of our tours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reach out to both new and old venues to organize LiNK screenings for our national awareness
    tours
  • Communicate creative and effective promotional strategies to our contacts who have already
    booked screenings
  • Create resources necessary to promote cooperation between contacts and LiNK HQ to ensure
    the success of screenings
  • Contribute to brainstorms about creative ways to connect with new venues across the country,
    and ways to foster meaningful relationships with venues we already visit

QUALIFICATIONS
 
We are looking for creative, outgoing, energetic and organized individual to join our team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.

INTERNSHIP DATES
 
This position is being offered as a full-time internship from June to August in the summer and August to December in the fall.
