MOON-SU
AGE | 13
LOCATION | South Korea
STATUS | Safe & Free
Moon-Su grew up in a very poor family in North Korea. His mother died when he was 4, leaving Moon-Su with his father who was unable to provide for the family. In order to survive, Moon Su was forced to go into China over 20 times to find food for his family. Upon arriving back to North Korea on his last trip, Moon-Su’s father placed him at a local orphanage because he could not afford to keep him.
Moon-Su spent many months at this orphanage but eventually, with the help of a friend, built up enough courage to escape and go back to China. Upon arriving in China, he had no one to take care of him or provide shelter. He became a “kkotjebi” or “street child” for nearly six months begging for food, clothes and shelter.
Although he was only 11 years old when we first met him, we offered him a chance to leave China in hopes of a better future. Moon-Su was successfully rescued and is now safely resettled in South Korea.
THANK YOU FOR CHANGING MOON-SU’S LIFE AND PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR HIM TO ENJOY THIS NEW LIBERTY.
