Join us on this special evening to celebrate and hear stories from our North Korean friends about their lives in North Korea, their remarkable journeys to freedom, and the important ways they are changing their homeland.

While Covid protocols continue to change, we will monitor and follow all local guidance. The event will be held indoors.

About the speaker

Doohyun Kim was born in North Korea. After his father died in a political prison camp he decided to defect, leaving behind his wife. He successfully escaped in 2009 through a modern day underground-railroad and later helped his wife escape, reuniting with her in 2011.

Today, Doohyun lives in Utah with his family and is an outspoken advocate for North Korean human rights issues. He works with the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK) and is also the host of a YouTube show called “Escaping Paradise.”
