세계에서 가장 견고한 장벽 너머로

Palo Alto, CA
May 14, 2026

Join an intimate group of technologists, founders, investors, and philanthropists for an off-the-record gathering focused on one of the most difficult and consequential information access challenges in the world: North Korea.

You're Invited

The North Korea Freedom Tech Summit is a one-day, closed-door exploration of how technology, information and power interact in the world’s most repressive state, and how targeted innovation, expertise, and capital can dramatically accelerate positive change.

Despite being the most closed country in the world, North Korea is not static. Smuggled devices and content, the introduction of new technologies, and creative adaptations by ordinary North Koreans have quietly eroded the regime’s monopoly on information. These shifts open up the most effective opportunities we have to increase freedom and pressure for change in North Korea.

At this summit:

This gathering is designed not as a conference, but as a working conversation – intimate, candid, and focused on actual outcomes.

The event is hosted by Liberty in North Korea (LiNK), an international organization with more than 20 years of experience on this issue. LiNK has helped more than 1,400 North Korean refugees and their children escape and resettle in South Korea and the United States, supported their resettlement and leadership development, and worked with North Korean defectors and engineers to build innovative solutions that expand access to information inside the country.

Explore concrete opportunities

where expertise, networks, and funding could unlock outsized impact in the world’s most restricted information environment.

Hear directly from North Korean defectors

whose lives were fundamentally changed by access to technology and outside information.

Gain a cutting-edge understanding of the current information and technology landscape inside North Korea

including what is working, what is not, and where breakthroughs are possible.

Engage with technologists, North Korean defectors, and practitioners

working at the frontier of freedom tech, often under extreme constraints.

Confidentiality & Security

Due to the sensitivity of the information discussed and to ensure the safety and privacy of participating North Korean defectors, this event will be strictly private and off-the-record. These measures are essential to enable open dialogue and protect those most at risk.
This invitation is non-transferable
No photography or recording will be permitted
Event details should not be shared publicly
All confirmed participants will be asked to sign an NDA at registration

Why This Matters

Much of the progress in expanding information access inside North Korea has been driven by North Korean citizens themselves, stealthily accessing information from the outside world, and creatively adapting technologies available inside the country or smuggled across the Chinese border. Today, new tools and approaches present a rare opportunity to amplify these efforts – if they are designed for unique North Korean use cases, and supported strategically.

Our goal is to bring together North Korean engineers and activists, technologists, and funders to explore how freedom tech that is carefully tailored to the North Korean context can accelerate long-term change in a way that is ethical, effective, and scalable. We hope you will consider joining this conversation.
