Help make freedom part of every North Korean’s story

In 2009, Doohyun risked his life to escape North Korea, seeking a better future for himself and his family. Leaving everything behind was the hardest decision he ever had to make.

Once he reached South Korea, he finally understood why his father put his life on the line to see the North Korean people live in freedom.

Doohyun’s father was unjustly imprisoned and tortured by North Korean authorities. Even after surviving the unimaginable, he was defiant. He wrote 20 pages of complaints to the Central Party about the human rights abuses he endured.
It would cost him his life.

While his father was never able to experience freedom, Doohyun is now living the life he had envisioned for all North Koreans.

Today, Doohyun is a father himself and works for a North Korea human rights organization, continuing his father’s legacy.
